I've believed in Ivan for a couple of years now. His win at Aprica today, dedicated to his new-born son, Santiago, makes me think this could be his year of glory. I'll be in Paris for the final stage of Le Tour, hoping to see him crowned victorious. Much as I admire Armstrong, Basso has dedication, determination and desire matched to a style which sets him apart. He will be an elegant addition to the pantheon of heroes - if he wins both the Giro and Le Tour. I shall be praying for him.

Hey Michael,

Yes! The Grand tours are here and Basso is looking awesome, he is my pick for a win at either the Tour or The Giro (if he does both that would be something very special - the double). It should be interesting so see how Jan progress with his "Giro training". Great site, thanks for the updates on Ivan.

It is great to see a Tour favorite and a team that race through the calendar. Armstrong's string of victories was brilliant, but to see Basso taking the risk of doing the double is great for cycling. I wish him all the success, and I'll be giving him a shout as I watch on OLN.

With recent wins by Vinokourov, Landis, Cunego and now our boy and reports of Ulrich's good form, this is fixing to be great year for the Giro and Tour - can't wait!

Hello,

I'm was born and raised in the U.S.A. I have taken interest in the career of Ivan Basso.
Basso is a unique name in America. I wonder if Ivan is related to me as a distant relative?
I'm happy to hear his career keeps on improving.
