Born as Charles Oladipo Adeyeye Akinde, in Idanre Ondo State of Nigeria on September 23, 1940. My father was a farmer and my mother a petty trader, or perhaps she was more of a housewife than a trader. But the fact is that most of the women in Nigeria of those days combine both ‘vocations’. My family genealogy is being compiled now since modern information technology has made it easy and possible. However, I will talk a little about the family called Akinde, at any rate my own Akinde, in Idanre.
The family AKINDE:
The man Akinde, who has the original name as his first name was an Idanre High Chief Osore. He took the title after the demice of his own father who was also High Chief Osore (Alarijeje). Alarijeje means the owner of eri Ijeje, a small streem which flows through the back of his compound at the Old Idanre. His first name is not known by me. But High Chief Osore Akinde was the son of High Chief Osore Akinde (l) of Idanre Kingdom. His date of birth is not known but he died in 1937 at Old Idanre a.k.a called Oke Idanre. My grand father’s mother was a princess, the daughter of the 20th Owa of Idanre Oba Towurojoye Arubiefin the 1st.  My mother was the daughter of Chief Akinnagbe who died young after having two female children, the first is Bamwa while my mother Deborah Olaimodun Akinde was the second. My mother’s mother was Orukootan (meaning name is finished because she was believed to be abiku child). She had only my mother as her daughter; she had no son whatsover. Same with her own mother, she had no child more than my grand mother. My mother is a little different, she beget four children, two sons and two daughters, more died when they were young probably for lack of proper medication. My sisters and brothers are as follows:
1. Francis Olatujoye Akinde is the oldest  son of my mother and father: 2. Eunice Usiola Akinnola (nee Akinde): 3. Myself, Charles Oladipo Akinde: and 4. Mabel Omoyiwola Oladapo (nee Akinde).
My education started at home when I was young like any other African child. Our whole life is education from birth to death. I started elementary school quite early when I was five years old. I say early because the usual school age under colonial Nigeria was six years. I started school on the 1st of January 1945, at Saint Paul’s Anglican Achool, Idale Odode Idanre. I had some break in my education in between, but I started later. The real drama and adventure that would change my entire life up till today started in 1955 when I finished my primary education, with my first school certificate. (to be added later)
